Manchester City’s club-record signing Kevin De Bruyne was the star of the show on Saturday against Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland, getting on the scoresheet after grabbing two assists earlier in the game
Despite Manchester City’s Jekyll-and-Hyde season thus far in the Premier League, it would be safe to say that the investment the club made in Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne seems to be paying off.
With two assist and a goal against the Black Cats, the 24-year-old has now already hit the 10 goal and 10 assists mark before the halfway point of the season — all the more impressive considering he joined fairly late in the summer transfer window.
Deservingly, he was the subject of a lot of praise on social media for his display. To add to his end product, De Bruyne also pulled off an outrageous piece of skill during the game that got football fans excited both at the stadium and on social media, with the moment of magic being uploaded almost immediately on Twitter and other sites.
There was also some mockery of City captain Vincent Kompany, who was taken off just nine minutes after coming on in the second half with the same calf issue that has kept him on the sidelines for the past month.
Here are some of the best Twitter reaction from an exciting game at the Etihad:
