Swansea City 2-4 Manchester City: Toure’s Brace Helps Citizens Book Top Three Spot

The Citizens secured a top three finish with a hard fought 4-2 victory in Wales.

Yaya Toure scored a brace at the Liberty Stadium as City edged a thrilling 4-2 win over Swansea.

James Milner and Wilfried Bony were also on target in a see-saw battle at The Liberty Stadium that had seen the hosts fight back from two goals down at one stage, but the Blues responded superbly with Joe Hart outstanding throughout to secure a place in the top three in the Barclays Premier League.

City are now assured a place in the Champions League group stage next season ahead of the final round of Premier League fixtures next weekend.

Swansea’s defeat means their hopes of Europa League qualification are definitely over as Garry Monk’s men will finish eighth.

Both teams came into the game on the back of four successive Premier League victories and with both teams looking for a place in next season’s European Competitions.

Swansea gave the Former champions a mighty scare as the Welsh side conceeded two goals within 36 minutes,Sigurdsson’s 20-yarder on the stroke of half-time gave Swansea hope and Gomis followed up his late winner as a substitute at Arsenal on Monday night by capitalising on Eliaquim Mangala’s mistake to fire home a 64th-minute equaliser.

Yaya Toure scored his second goal pof the evening and his 51st goal in the Barclays Premier League to give Manchester City the lead.Toure’s shot deflected off Swansea skipper Ashley Williams and Fabianski was unable to save a goal which many believe should have been saved by the former Arsenal shot stopper.

Bony settled matters in the final minutes of the game but the Ivorian refused to celebrate his goal against his former employers.

Joe Hart produced one of the saves of the season to prevent Federico Fernandez equalising again with a point-blank header and then stopped Gomis from scoring, before Bony put the gloss on City’s victory.
