In an interview with beIN Sports, former Manchester United midfielder Angel Di Maria claimed that though he was keen on staying at Real Madrid after winning La Decima, he believes that he left at the a right timea as the club hasna t won a single trophy following his departure.

.

Angel di Maria infamously fell out with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez just weeks after winning the Champions League trophy against Atletico Madrid. While both parties took turns to blame each other, Di Maria ultimately signed for Manchester United for a British record fee in the summer of 2014.

I left at the right time, Real Madrid havena t won anything since then

As reported by Marca, Angel di Maria claimed that while he has a lot of great memories from his stay at the Spanish capital, he feels that he left the club at the opportune moment.

a Since I left Real Madrid haven’t won anything. In any case, I think that I left at the right time and the right way.”

Carlo Ancelottia s second year in charge at the Spanish club resulted in a barren year which was immediately followed by his sacking. Barcelona on the other hand went on to win the treble following a shaky start under Luis Enrique.

Real Madrid fans would argue that Angel di Maria himself suffered a terrible fate after completing his move to Manchester United. Riddled with injuries, his year-long stay at Manchester was unrewarding for both sides as he eventually forced a move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.
