Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has expressed his disappointment following Real Madrida s 0-0 draw with Sporting Gijon in their opening La Liga clash.

Real Madrid were held to a goalless draw by Sporting Gijon in Rafa Beniteza s first competitive game in charge of the European giants.

Benitez played Bale as the no. 10 and young Jese Rodriguez was played as the centre-forward with Karim Benzema out due to injury.

Sergio Ramos unhappy over draw

However, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos – who was embroiled in a transfer dispute before penning a new deal – was not pleased by the fact that Real dropped two crucial points as title rivals Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona, bot won their respective games.

.

Ramos was quoted saying by Goal.com: a It’s not a matter of taking many conclusions yet. It is clear that the first half was not good enough, but in the second half we showed more initiative.a

a We wish we won three points. Everything that is not a win is not gooda

Benitez admits Real Madrid low on confidence

Rafael Benitez was appointed the new Real Madrid manager following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti. The Spaniard has now taken charge of Real in 9 competitive and non-competitive games and has seen his side fail to score in five of them.

Speaking post-game, Benitez was quoted saying by Goal.com: a In the second half we could have won the game.”

a We were lacking confidence. We had many shots on goal, but we were not accurate enough.

“Sporting played very well, they were very tidy. They are players who have played together for a long time. It was not easy.

“Last year the team didn’t win at the start of the season. We have just started, I’m optimistic. Now we will continue to adjust things and get physically better.”
