Roberto Carlos Content With Narrow Win Over FC Goa; Praises Gustavo Dos Santos

Delhi Dynamos manager Roberto Carlos was pleased with his side’s performance as they beat FC Goa by a single goal.

A first half header by Delhi’s in form striker Robin Singh gave a Delhi a narrow lead to take to Goa for the 2nd leg of the semi final between the two sides. This was Delhi’s first win over FC Goa in 5 attempts over the past couple of years.

Carlos also praised the performance of Brazilian winger Gustavo Dos Santos, who set up the goal for Singh and terrorized FC Goa left back Narayan Das throughout the match.

Roberto Carlos happy with 1-0 win over FC Goa

Speaking to the media after his side’s narrow win over compatriot Zico’s FC Goa, Delhi Dynamos manager Roberto Carlos revealed that he was content with his side’s performance on the night.

“I am happy with a 1-0 win,” said Carlos. “I am very happy we won. I am happy with the performance of the players and the supporters who have been cheering for us all throughout the night.”

Asked whether this was the best performance put in by Dos Santos is a Delhi Dynamos jersey, Carlos said, “He (Dos Santos) was very motivated today. The whole team played very well. Gustavo is an amazing player. So is Robin. I always speak about all them.”

Commenting on the standard of refereeing on the night, Carlos revealed, “And speaking about the refereeing, I think he did a good job. To have foreign referees, players and coaches is important for the development of Indian football.”

Asked whether he’ll regret his team not scoring more goals on the night to take a large advantage away to Goa, Carlos said, “Firstly, I want to enjoy the win today. For now, I want to take it easy and enjoy it. We are going to enjoy a lot because we dona t know whata s going to happen there.”

“Ita s going to be very tough at Goa. Our goal is to get to the final and we have to go through a very tough team. Thata s why I am enjoying now.”
