Bayern Munich will not allow Robert Lewandowski to play in the UEFA Champion League semi-final game against Barcelona if he is not fit enough to play. The cluba s Sporting Director Matthias Sammer opined that they wona t risk the Polish striker even though it is a crucial encounter.
Robert Lewandowski was jolted with a concussion and he also broke his nose last week in the DFB Pokal semi-final game against Borussia Dortmund.
Regarding Lewandowski, Sammer said, “The doctors, the player and the mask will make this decision.
“But one thing is clear: No player in the world can be so important to jeopardise his health.
“Even if the doctors give their green light, that does not necessarily mean he will play.”
Also, the strikera s agent Cezary Kucharskim too advised his client not to risk his health if he is not fit enough to play.
Robert Lewandowski added to Bayerna s injury woes as they will miss the services of Arjen Robben and David Alaba. Robben was declared fit before the DFB Pokal game and he was also fielded by Pep Guardiola. Unfortunately, he had to be taken off within ten minutes as his abdominal injury relapsed.
It is going to be an uphill task for the Bundesliga Champions to put up a decent show, with so many casualties, against a strong Barcelona side who are on devastating form in the recent times.
