Signing a player of Milnera s quality, who at 29 is at the peak of his playing career, represents a significant coupe for the English giants.

Fowler, who played alongside Milner at Leeds some 13 years ago, says the 29-year-old midfielder has a every attributea required to be a huge hit for the club.

a James comes with a great pedigree having been around the Premier League for years and years,a Fowler said.

a Hea s got a lot of experience but hea s still got a good few years left so I think ita s a magnificent signing for the club.

a I was at Leeds with James when he was a young lad. He played on the wing then but you knew he was going to be a good player.

a Hea s got every attribute you need to be a top class footballer.

a Hea s strong on the ball, he can pass, he can use both feet and can play in a number of positions.

a Hea s probably one of those players – and Ia m certainly not doing him a disservice here – hea s never going to be a 10/10 every time.

a But hea s incredibly consistent. We need players who are more consistent than what wea ve had in the past to take the club forward.

a Hea s also a name a a proven England international who has played at the top level for years. He will command respect from his team-mates and from the opposition.a

.

It is indeed high praise coming from a former Liverpool FC great. It is hard to disagree with Fowler that James Milner might not be a top, top player, but, he consistently gives very good performances.
