Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez wants a more physical presence in his midfield to compliment the finesse of Luca Modric and Toni Kroos and has singled out Kondogbia as the perfect fit, as per reports in Spanish newspaper AS.
Kondogbia has been a target of a host of clubs across Europe, including Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC who are both looking to reinforce their midfield.

Kondogbia was on the top of Real Madrid’s target list two seasons ago but the Doyen Investment Group had a hand in the Frenchman’s decision to leave Seville on a a 20 million deal to sign for Monaco, with Real Madrid then going on to sign Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad for a 38 million – a player they are looking to move on this summer.
Liverpool FC, who have had major problems with consistent injuries to Lucas Leiva, have been on the look out for a defensive midfielder who can plug the gaps in the midfield for some time now and have been linked for moves for Asier Illarramendi as well as Kondogbia.
