Real Madrid are still stinging from that 4-0 defeat at home to arch rivals Barcelona and club captain Sergio Ramos has stated that though the players enjoyed a better relationship with Carlo Ancelotti, they believe in their present manager Rafa Benitez.
Real Madrid were handed an embarrassing defeat at home to Barcelona after Suarez scored a brace with Neymar Jr and Andres Iniesta chipping in with a goal each to sink the Los Blancos four-nil. There has been a huge uproar over manager Rafa Benitez’s tactics and strategy after the match and club captain Sergio Ramos has had his say in the matter.
a We were closer [with Carlo Ancelotti] as we worked with him for two years, but our relationship with Benitez is good.a , Ramos told Football Espana. [via: Squawka.com]
Sergio Ramos also spoke about the need to focus on the next match and for the club to put up a united front in the face of the backlash from fans.
.
a It would be foolish not to believe in your own coach. We have to be more united than ever with our president and coach. Sometimes the players, coach and president get booed, but this is part of our status… I dona t like to point fingers or resort to blaming… When things dona t go well, thata s when we must be more united. Now we must turn the page and think about the next game.” he said.
Will Benitez Bite The Dust
Spaniard Rafa Benitez was brought to the club in the summer after they sacked Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti who had, just two seasons ago, guided them to a Champions League. This raises a number of questions as to who exactly the Los Blancos consider to be a successful manager.
Benitez has had stints in Liverpool, Chelsea and Inter Milan, but his management at Real Madrid has raised a few questions and his approach has been labelled too ‘pragmatic’. It remains to be seen whether the temperamental board of Madrid will tolerate any more failures from Benitez after the El Clasico defeat.
