Heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, David De Gea has reportedly said his goodbyes to his Manchester United teammates and staff.

David de Gea is poised to return to Spain and will in most likelihood join his former club Atletico Madrida s closest rivals, Real Madrid. The Spaniard is tipped to replace Iker Casillas as The Whitesa number 1 and become the cluba s first star signing this summer.

De Gea made an A?18.3 million move from Atletico Madrid to Manchester United in 2011. The stoppera s contract with the Red Devils comes to an end in 2016 and the cluba s attempts to tie him down to a new contract have so far proved futile. The Spaniard has reportedly resisted the chance to become British footballa s highest paid keeper after refusing a A?200,000-a-week offer from the club.

According to reports, De Gea has bid adieu to his United teammates and the cluba s staff. It is believed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is confident of sealing a A?25 million deal for De Gea making him the first star player to become a part of another Galactico overhaul. After signing Danilo from Porto, De Gea will be Real Madrida s second mega money move of the summer.

David De Gea was undoubtedly one of the most important players in Manchester Uniteda s campaign which saw them finish fourth in the league, making a Champions League return possible for the Red Devils. On the other hand, in a disappointing season for Real Madrid, which ended trophy-less, most fingers were pointed at Casillasa deteriorating performances and the need to replace the legendary Spaniard.

Having turned 34 this summer, this might just be the right time for Real Madrid to replace Iker Casillas and David de Gea seems to be the apt replacement for the captain. However, this leaves Keylor Navasa future in doubt as the Costa Rican spent most of the season warming the bench waiting for his chance to arrive. The signing of De Gea will most probably frustrate the former Levante man and force him to move away from the club.
