Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, admitted that his future at the Bernabeu hangs in the balance but also denied speculation about Manchester City contact.
Real Madrid have endured a mixed campaign throughout the season. The season began on a sour note for the European champions as they failed to win the Spanish SuperCup and were beaten by Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad early in the league. However, after that, a Los Blancosa went on a rampage, winning 22 games on a trot before the end of 2014. But 2015 saw a dip in The Whitesa form and they now see themselves second in La Liga, out of the Copa Del Rey and not so sure of making it to the Champions League semi-finals.
Real Madrida s ups and downs this season have unsurprisingly brought Carlo Ancelottia s future in doubts. The Italian is tipped to be sacked at the end of the season, if Real Madrid fail to win major silverware this season. All this speculation has forced Ancelotti to speak about his future and he conceded that he is not sure whether the talks of the extension of his stay will happen any time soon.
But the former Chelsea manager is relaxed about his future and is in no hurry to extend his contract which runs to an end in a year.
“I have another year on my contract,” he said. “We have spoken about sitting down to talk about a new deal but never set a concrete date to meet. I’m not in any hurry. I have another year on my contract.
“If the club does not call me to renew today, maybe they will call in September, or December, or maybe nobody calls me. I am not going to ask for it.”
With Manchester Citya s Manuel Pellegrini finding it tough to get the best out last seasona s champions, his future is also under a lot of doubt. Rumour has it that City have contacted Ancelotti to replace Pellegrini. However, Ancelotti denied having any such talks with the Manchester-based outfit.
When asked whether City called him to discuss his future, Ancelotti said, a No, no, no.
“Today they talked about [Jurgen] Klopp to Manchester City so … We coaches know that it depends on results. Anything can happen.
“It is the same as last year in this period. If we did not win the Champions League … and in the end we won it. They are saying the same again, and maybe we will win it again.”
