Raheem Sterling Saga Takes New Turn

Liverpool FC’s under-fire winger Raheem Sterling has stated that the reason behind his decision to quit Anfield is a result of complete breakdown in his relationship with manager Brendan Rodgers and that he could still stay at the Merseyside club under a different manager.

The Raheem Sterling transfer saga has undergone a new twist, after journalist John Cross of Mirror revealed that the 20-year-old feels betrayed by the manager, who the winger feels has continually leaked confidential details to the press, on at-least three previous occasions.

The 20-year-old insists that he no longer enjoys a working relationship with the Irishman and has refused to go to the club’s pre-season tour under Rodgers, after having called in sick yesterday. He is also under the impression that it was the Anfield club which leaked information about his refusal to go on the club’s pre-season tour, something which the manager has denied.

Angry fans turned up at the house of the English international to threaten him, while he was also welcomed by thousands of abusive texts and Whatsapp messages after his phone number was posted online. Sterling has changed his phone number thrice in the past year, with his number making it to public domain in all three occasions, and he suspects someone from inside the club, is leaking the same.

However, Sterling still would want to stay at Anfield under a different manager, following irreconcilable differences with the 42-year-old. Rodgers on the other hand has always maintained that the pair enjoy a close and healthy relationship.

Sterling believes that there is a cynical PR campaign against him by Liverpool FC, and has been disappointed by the fans treatment since his refusal to sign a contract extension. Manchester City have had two bids rejected for Sterling, who is among the most coveted youngsters in Europe at the moment, with Liverpool FC holding out for A?50 million.
