PSG are in advanced negotiations for Angel Di Maria, with the French club having offered only a 40m (A?28.5m) to buy the 27-year-old from Manchester United who are holding out for more.
Manchester Untied have accepted a bid of a 65million from Paris Saint-Germain for Argentina winger Angel Di Maria, according to reports in France Football . and L’Equipe.
But, the Guardian is now reporting that Manchester United received only a A?28.5 million bid, less than half of his A?59.7 million transfer fee from just a year ago.
Manchester United want more
The fee is less than half the British record A?59.7m that Manchester United paid Real Madrid for Di Mar a 12 months ago, and the Guardian says that Ed Woodward, the executive vice-chairman, is holding out for more from PSG as he seeks a higher price.
The conflicting report by the Guardian comes at a time when French press report that a deal has been reached and PSG players and managers confident of a move going through.
The Guardian report says:
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are in advanced negotiations for A?ngel Di Mar a, with the French club having offered a 40m (A?28.5m) to buy the 27-year-old.
Ed Woodward, the executive vice-chairman, is thought to be resisting PSGa s offer as he seeks a higher price. Although Louis van Gaal had wanted the Argentinian to stay the manager now accepts Di Mar a wishes to leave and so there would be some surprise if he were still at the club when the transfer window closes on 1 September.
PSG have the financial muscle to pay the fee
PSG were reportedly interested in signing Di Maria last summer from Real Madrid, but were unable to do so because of the restrictions placed on them by UEFA for breach of FFP rules.
With UEFA lifting those sanctions on the French side, PSG reignited their interest in bringing Di Mar a to the French capital and according to latest reports, a fee betweenManchester United and PSG has been accepted, believed to be in the region ofa 65million as per reports in France.
PSG certainly have the ability to pay the fee now that the restrictions are lifted.
PSG set to win the race, Di Maria unsettled
PSG manager Laurent Blanc had earlier confirmed that the club are chasing Manchester United star Angel Di Maria, but, the move is complicated due to other big clubs chasing the player too with reports in press recently having linked the player to FCBarcelona and Bayern Munich.
They now seem to be winning the race with PSG players David Luiz and Zlatan Ibrahimovic welcoming the signature of the former Real Madrid man.
Di Maria is thought to be unsettled at Manchester United with the player saying he was less than pleased with warming the bench at the club.
a Yes. For me, and my family. Because not everything goes as I want, because I dona t play. Because I came with an intention and end up on the bench.a
Earlier report from France claim that the player has already agreed personal terms with PSG. Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal also publicly admitted that the player is finding life difficult at Manchester United,
The ESPN FC reports further adds to the belief that Di Maria is unsettled at Manchester United:
The feeling at Old Trafford is that Di Maria will never really settle at the club, and they cana t take the risk on another disappointing season. The Argentine national team management reportedly felt during the Copa America that Van Gaal had a destroyeda Di Mariaa s a football rhythm,a and sources say he has very little relationship with Van Gaal.
It seems only a matter of time before this moves comes to fruition, despite conflicting reports emerging that the clubs are yet to agree a fee.
