Premier League Clubs On High Alert As Luis Suarez Faces Uncertain Barcelona Future: Reports

Can he and Messi click?

Former Liverpool attacker Luis Suarez has put various Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and even Manchester United on high alert after reports of him facing an uncertain future at Barcelona started doing rounds.

Everything seems lopsided at the Catalan clubs. The dismissal of sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and the resignation of his assistant Carles Puyol was followed by coach Luis Enrique falling out with star man Lionel Messi. Lionel Messi seems to also be involved in a transfer saga as Chelsea are monitoring the developments at Camp Nou and are ready to swoop in and meet the whooping 200m clause. Manager Luis Enrique also seems to be facing an uncertain future as Barcelona are currently playing non attractive football and could well be trophyless this season as well, if they don’t improve their form.

Luis Suarez is the recent addition to the list of personnel with an “uncertain future”. The Daily Mail writes: The Uruguay striker is coming under increasing scrutiny at the Nou Camp since his A?75million move from Liverpool and is under pressure to rediscover his goal-scoring form. Despite just three goals in 12 games since his move from Anfield in the summer, his situation at Barcelona will be monitored by the top clubs in the Barclays Premier League. Arsenal previously tried to sign him but Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea will continue to monitor the forwarda s progress over the next five months.

Luis Enrique has played Suarez in various roles up front, but mostly on the wings in an attacking trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar. However, the Uruguayan got a rare go as a striker in the clash with Real Sociedad but was unable to prevent them losing as David Moyes’ side took an unexpected three points against the Catalan giants.

Suarez has thus far scored just once in the league, and has twice in the Champions League against Apoel Nicosia and PSG.

Luis Enriquea s future was due to be discussed at an emergency board meeting.

THT Verdict- Very Unlikely

It is very, very unlikely that something like this actually materializes. Despite finding the back of the net only thrice this season, Suarez hasn’t “failed” at his new club. The forward has six assists to his name and has been in decent touch. He is not a mainstay of Barcelona like he was at Liverpool, so naturally his stats are not like they were last season. Barcelona are unlikely to part with the Uruguayan after just one year and these reports can be dismissed as highly speculative.
