West Ham United cruised to a 2-0 victory over cross-town rivals Arsenal FC in the first London derby of the Premier League this season. Arsenal FC’s latest recruit Petr Cech was at fault for both the goals as Dimitri Payet impressed on his Premier League debut for the Hammers.
West Ham took the lead just before half-time courtesy of Cheikhou Kouyate, who headed home a Dimitri Payet cross when Petr Cech came off his line to try to punch the ball. The Czech international failed miserably in his attempt to punch and he was also undone by some shambolic defending by his defenders who put no pressure on the West Ham players.
10 minutes into the second half, Mauro Zarate picked the bottom corner with a placed finish after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gifted him possesion at the edge of the box. Cech was slow to react as the ball went past him, however, in defence of the 33-year-old he was blindsided by Koscielny for the second goal.
Arsenal FC’s star studded lineup failed to live up to it’s expectation as the Gunners hardly created anything of note. Even the inclusion of last campaign’s Player-of-the-year Alexis Sanchez could not help the Gunners find away past the impressive Adrian. West Ham’s new A?11 million signing Dimitri Payet was impressive as he constantly troubled the Gunners defenders with his dangerous crosses and direct running. 16-year-old debutant Oxford earned rave-reviews from fans en route to becoming the second youngest player to start a Premier League game
Arsenal FC fans took to Twitter to express their concerns in light of the harsh reality ‘Cech’, while West Ham fans enjoyed a momentous day in their history. Petr Cech was the subject of heavy criticism from the disgruntled Arsenal FC fans.
