Petr Cech Admits He Is Not Ready To Spend Another Season At Chelsea As Backup

Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Cech has admitted that he is not ready to spend another season in London playing back-up to Thibaut Courtois.

The 32-year-old has started only four Premier League games this season and has lost the first team place to Thibaut Courtois. He has primarily been used in domestic cup competitions and the player admitted that while it has worked out for the club, he doesn’t want another season like this.

“I don’t know what the club’s idea will be. It looks like it works well with me and Thibaut as a duo,” he told the Idnes newspaper.

“But that can work for one season only. I don’t want another one like this.”

Cech has said that he will think about his future only at the end of the season and is only going to be focused at football right now. “There always will be speculation, I leave it for the summer,” he added.

“It will be important to sit down with the club, with the manager, to consider all the pros and cons. We will see what will work out the best.”

Asked about a possible move to European champions Real Madrid, he said: “When a specific offer comes I will consider it. There are offers one cannot turn down”.

Cech moved to Chelsea in 2004 and is a fan favorite after spending eleven years with the club. In the time being, he has won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and three League Cups.

The player has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with reports suggesting Casillas’s stay at the club will be over at the end of the season; Liverpool and Arsenal.

In fact, Cech’s agent Viktor Kolar said in December that Liverpool and Arsenal should bid for the Czech international at the end of the season. Kolar also claimed Cech is set to leave next summer and has already been offered to Real Madrid.

Kolar said, a Ita s unlikely Petr will leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. The club and coach want to keep him to help win the title. I think Arsenal should have made an offer to him. I think Petr would be considering it.

a Liverpool need to strengthen their position in goal and they know Petr will be available in the summer.
