New Chelsea FC signing Pedro Rodr guez wasted no time in showcasing his abilities to the English Premier League, scoring and assisting in the Blues’ first win of the season
There were question marks over whether Spain international Pedro would go straight into manager Jos Mourinho’s Chelsea FC line-up, but the Portuguese named the former FC Barcelona in his starting XI and reaped the rewards.
Pedro was electric in his first appearance for the Blues, scoring the opening goal after a smart run in which he exchanged passes with Eden Hazard, before making a decisive contribution in an excellent counter-attacking goal converted by Diego Costa. The 28-year-old could have had more assists in the match, but was let down by some poor finishing from his team-mates – particularly Brazil international Willian.
Chelsea FC fans over the moon with new signing Pedro
The Blues’ faithful were unsurprisingly excited after watching their new signing strut his stuff at the Hawthorns, and any question marks about whether Pedro would start for Mourinho seem to have been well and truly laid to rest. Brazilian internationals Oscar and Willian will seemingly have to compete for a spot in the no.10 role, with Hazard and Pedro on either side.
With Juan Cuadrado reportedly on his way to Juventus on loan, Chelsea FC fans will be more than happy with his replacement, who proved just how much of a difference he can make in attack with his outstanding performance at the Hawthorns. There were also further calls for club vice-captain Branislav Ivanovi to be dropped next week in favour of new signing Abdul Baba Rahman, for whom the game against West Brom came too early.
Pedro is exactly what #cfc needed upfront; a real treat on goal & offers support for Eden Hazard who’s been carrying the team for months.

Pedro has done more in 85 minutes football than Cuadrado has done since January as? Y Y Y Y?? a CarefreeYouth (@CarefreeYouth) August 23, 2015
Really happy that Chelsea won today. Not sure my general state of mind could have dealt with a loss. Pedro is everything I expected.

Anyone else see Pedro rallying as he got subbed off. Knew he had leadership qualities but after a week at the club that is impressive. a ParkedTheBus (@ParkedTheBus) August 23, 2015
Ivanovic must be dropped, he was awful again today and has been all season. Get Baba in and move Azpilicueta into Iva position. #CFC

Ivanovic should move far away from the starting line-up. About 99% of the goals we concede come from his position. Game after game. a Benjamin Aidooa (@Facosh) August 23, 2015
@manutd not getting Pedro dissappointed me….especially seeing he scored today too!!
