Spain players had plenty of praise reserved for their captain Iker Casillas after they beat Belarus narrowly and edge closer to automatic qualification for the Euro 2016.
Casillas has been regarded as a Spain great for a while now so these comments by other players shouldn’t come as surprise or even be news but with all the ongoing speculation regarding David de Gea replacing him at Real Madrid next season, and even for the country, it is understandable for his peers to go on record and hail their captain.
The Real Madrid veteran replaced David de Gea for the Euro 2016 qualifier at Borisov Arena and ensured his side kept a cleansheet to keep La Roja second in Group C.
Goalscorer David Silva said, “Iker is a fantastic goalkeeper and is the best for us, thata s all there is to say about the matter”.
Pedro also had words of appreciation for the 34 year-old. He said, “Iker is a great goalkeeper and for us is the best,” he said. “There is nothing more to say.”

There is rumored to be animosity between Casillas and de Gea. Spanish media outlet Marca recently reported: Iker Casillas and David de Gea did not greet each other on their arrival at the Spain camp. After parking their cars, they walked over to a fence to sign autographs, but without saying a word to each other or even acknowledging each other’s existence.
