Arsenal FC Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis has refused to put an end-date on Arsene Wengera s tenure at the club.

The 2015-16 campaign will be Arsene Wengera s 20th in charge of the North London club and Ivan Gazidis feels he still remains the right man for the job.

Wenger has won three league titles and six FA Cups during his long and illustrious stay at the club so far. The Frenchman has been under a lot of pressure to deliver in the recent past as the club endured eight straight trophy-less campaigns, but now with no financial restrictions to watch out for, Wenger has delivered two FA Cups in the last two seasons.

No end-date for Wenger

In an interview with the Straits Times, Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis has praised the 65-year-old and hoped that he can continue at the helm as long as his health permits.

“He’s been incredibly important for us. You never know, but he’s in great health and he’s doing incredibly well.

a He’s full of energy and enthusiasm, his hunger is still there, and I’d never put an end-date on it.

“He’s also been a passionate supporter of the club, in a sense a fan of the club. He’s put the club’s progress and development above his own personal interest.

“We believe we have the right man in the club and we’re very pleased that he’s full of health and willing to carry us forward.” a . Gazidis said in an interview with the Straits Times.

The 50-year-old also believes that Arsenal have the squad to challenge for the title, but stressed on the need to be more consistent next season.

“We have got a growing sense of belief in our squad. We want to be more consistent going into next season.

“We definitely have the quality in our squad to compete and win the league.” a Gazidis added.

He remains the right man for the job

Wenger has had to face a lot of criticism for the austerity he had to maintain in the transfer market while the club moved to a new stadium and paid their debts. With a bit of farsightedness , one can envisage how Wengera s ability to get the club through its financial constraints, without missing out on Champions League football, has helped in setting up a much more stable future.

Now with the stability in place, Arsenal can once again spend and afford the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the transfer market. Wenger has delivered two trophies in the past two seasons and he now finally has a team, albeit with few more required additions, to mount a sustainable title challenge. A lot of the current fans and critics might not appreciate what Wenger has done for the club, but the future generation will. It isn’t a wonder that the board remains so vocally supportive of the Frenchman.
