FC Barcelona forward Neymar Jr. has tipped the Catalan Giants to become the first team to successfully defend their UEFA Champions League crown.
No club has been able to defend the UEFA Champions League crown since the competition was re-branded in 1992, with Manchester United coming the closest, after winning in the 2007-08 season and reaching the final in the 2008-09 season where they lost to FC Barcelona.
However, Neymar, who scored the third and last goal in the final match for Blaugrana in 2014-15 season against Juventus in the 3-1 win, feels that the club can replicate their form from last season and win the title again.
Neymar hoping a repeat of Champions League glory
Speaking on the eve of his 100th game for the club, the Brazil forward appeared characteristically confident of winning the UEFA Champions League, again.
He told the official FC Barcelona website . : “We have quality, we have a great team, quality players and we can win another Champions League in a row.
“We are going to do our best to be the only team to do that.”
Neymar wants to continue to grow
The Brazil forward is an ambitious player and his desire to improve is evident as he speaks about making history with the Catalan side.
He said: “I hope to make history, continue to make history here in Barcelona, win spectacular things, another Champions League, La Liga, and continue doing my job.
“I want to continue to play my football, grow as a person and help my team-mates – winning is always what I like.
“We achieved one [great season], we put in a great season, we won everything and we scored more than 100 goals.
“But now the following season is difficult because everybody is looking at us.
“Everyone wants to score, to be stronger, and we have to do more than we did last season and we have to do something different to change things around.”
