Next Liverpool Manager? Frenchman Tries To Woo Owners With ‘Dream’ Remarks

Brendan Rodgers - Liverpool manager

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has come under increasing pressure of late after a string of disappointing results in ‘make or break’ games have all but ended their hopes of a trophy and perhaps even a Champions League place.

With German manager Jurgen Klopp revealing a few days ago that he will leave the club come summer, a lot of speculation has risen suggesting that he could replace Rodgers in a few month’s time. The owners will not have a tough time trying to find a replacement as Saint-Etienne boss Christophe Galtier has revealed that it would be his ‘dream’ to manage the Merseysiders, “If I had to choose my destination, I would go to Liverpool. It’s my dream,” he told Canal Football Club.

The 48-year old has been a mastermind for the club this season who could yet qualify for the Champions League ahead of the likes of Marseille, Monaco and Montpellier which would be a shock. His side are just two points behind Monaco who occupy the last Champions league spot and with five games still remaining, a surprise is very much on the cards. Galtier has been linked with a move to Newcastle United who will hire a new manager in the summer. The Frenchman also revealed that a move to Marseille will appeal to him as he played for them.

Although it’s unlikely that the Liverpool board will take notice of Galtier’s indirect job application, it will definitely add even more heat on Brendan Rodgers who knows his job is on the line if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League. The fans and board could have given him some time had Liverpool done well in the Semi final of the FA Cup against Aston Villa and qualified for the final, and maybe, win a trophy. With the defeat, Rodgers has become the first Liverpool manager in 50 plus years to not win a trophy in his first three seasons, something that he would not have wanted on his CV.
