Mumbai City FC
Still looking for their first win in this edition of the Hero Indian Super League, Mumbai City FC host Chennaiyin FC after earning only one point from their previous two encounters. Currently sitting on the 7th spot, Nicolas Anelka will be keen to earn three points infront of an encouraging home crowd as he looks to get the season started.
Sunil Chetri, Lalchhuanmawia Fanai and Subrata Pal return to the side following their commitment with the national football team and will look to make an immediate impact should the manager chose to hand them their first start this season. Mumbai FC will miss Andre Moritz in the midfield as the Brazilian withdraws his participation from the competition this season.
Anelka will look to establish an effective partnership between Sunil Chetri, Sony Norde and himself as Mumbai continue to lack teeth in front of the goal. Subrata Pal will take his position between the posts and will be supported by Ashutosh Mehta, Pavel Cmovs, Franz Bertin and Keegan Pereira in the defence.
Expected Starting Eleven: Subrata Pal (GK); Ashutosh, Pavel Cmovs, Franz Bertin, Fanai; Cristian Bustos Costa, Brandon, Aguilera, Norde; Anelka, Chetri
Chennaiyin FC
Sitting just one spot above Mumbai City FC, Chennaiyin FC look for their second consecutive win as they travel to D. Y. Patil Stadium in a bid to earn three crucial points. Coming at the back of a 4-0 win over FC Goa, Marco Materazzi will be hoping for a similar performance as they come up against a resilient Mumbai side.
Chennaiyin FC will be banking on Elano to provide the spark from the midfield as Jeje and Fikru as expected to lead the teama s attack from the front. John Stiven Valencia was the one to score the hattrick against FC Goa and hence the Colombian international could get the nod ahead of the other two strikers. Mehrajuddin Wadoo will take his position in the defence along with Potenza, Ralte and Mailson Alves. Meanwhile, Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto is expected to dominate the proceedings from the middle along with Harmanjot Khabra.
Expected Starting Eleven: Edel (GK); Wadoo, Potenza, Ralte, Mailson Alves; Raphael, Khabra, Thoi Singh; Elanao, Fikru, Jeje
Player To Watch Out For
Sunil Chetri and Elano are the two players to watch out for as Mumbai City FC comes head to head with Chennaiyin FC in the 13th match of the Hero Indian Super League.
The Indian skipper is expected to get a warm welcome as he looks to kickstart his domestic campaign while the visiting teama s hopes will lie on Elano as the Brazilian looks to earn his side three vital points away from home.
Prediction
Mumbai City FC 1-2 Chennaiyin FC
Chennaiyin FC appears to be in a better position to earn a favourable result amidst the two teams as it comes into the fixture at the back of a thumping win against FC Goa. Even though Sunil Chetri has returned to the squad, Mumbai City FC will need to give their star striker some time to adjust as he looks to make a strong start to his campaign.
