Much Needed Boost For Liverpool; Two Stars Agree To Contract Extension After Henderson

Things haven’t been looking too great for Liverpool FC lately, but the club has received some much needed boost as Jordan Ibe and Martin Skrtel have both agreed to extend their contracts following Jordan Henderson’s steps as it was revealed yesterday that the vice-captain will sign a deal at the end of the week.

Liverpool ECHO report that the 19 year old will extend his contract at the end of the week as well. They write: The youngster has agreed terms on a long-term deal, which will keep him at Anfield until 2020. It is reward for the 19-year-olda s impressive development, with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confident Ibe can become a significant player for the club in the coming years.

Ibe impressed in the pre-season and was sent out on loan to Derby County to play regularly and subsequently spent the first half of this season on loan in the Championship. He was recalled in January after Rodgers felt he could use his services and has since made eight appearances (which in all fairness could have been more but for his injury).

Ibe would have been out of contract in 2017, but a new contract would mean his immediate future is with the Merseysiders.

Meanwhile Martin Skrtel is also expected to be tied down in a new contract in the coming days. The 30-year old has been linked with moves to Wolfsburg and Napoli with his current contract expiring next summer, but he has put the rumors to rest by admitting he will not be leaving the club.

Skrtel said, a I am not leaving anywhere. Not to Wolfsburg nor to Naples.a

Skrtela s agent, Karol Csonto, also confirmed that the deal will be finalised soon, a The only offer which is lying on Martin Skrtela s table right now is the extension of his contract from Liverpool. We have been working on the details, and we will be finalising it soon.
