Mourinho: We Want To Finish It As Soon As Possible

Jose Mourinho has made it clear Chelsea will look to wrap up the league as soon as possible.

The Blues Boss was focussing on the task in hand ahead of a potentially decisive London derby with Crystal Palace on Sunday.

“We need three points to be champions – to make sure we dona t depend on goal difference. Ita s easy.”-said Mourinho.

“Obviously we want to finish it as soon as possible; if we can do it at home, better, and if we can do it on Sunday, even better. Thata s what we have in our mind.”

“Ita s similar to Arsenal, similar to Leicester – we go to win but in this moment any point we get is a positive point. We are calm.”

The Manager was also asked about the fitness of star striker Diego Costa and Mourinho stated it wasn’t worth the risk to play the Spaniard.

a Diego is out,a said Mourinho “He hasna t suffered a setback; it just isna t worth the risk.”

“In the last month if we lost a game, and we didna t want to lose the second, he would be back immediately.”

“But because the results in the last month were always victories, or a draw against the second team, we dona t need to rush. We are trying to give him the maximum stability for him to be stronger and stronger. There is no need to take any risk.”

“There is a chance he might not play again this season,a continued the boss. a If we win on Sunday, I would say he doesna t play against Liverpool. If we dona t win on Sunday, I would say he plays against Liverpool. At the moment we are going result after result, and if we dona t need, probably he doesna t play again.”

In the absence of both Diego Costa and Loic Remy , Didier Drogba has started several games for the Blues this season and Mourinho reckons he was always sure of Drogba scoring an important part for Chelsea this season.

“I was expecting Didier to play this season. Three strikers is a fine number. The three strikers will always have time and matches, [because of] rotation, form, performance, cards, injuries, and different competitions.”

“He is scoring important goals, not a huge amount of them, but important goals. He has given a great contribution.”
