Mourinho: Let Diego Costa Play His Football

Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has come out in defense of striker Diego Costa and asserts that the Spanish International, should be allowed to play his kind of football. Mourinho’s comments came on the back of a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup, which witnessed its fair share of controversy.

Mourinho, believes that Costa should be awarded a penalty, midway through the first half and this decision, which went against the Chelsea team, is difficult to digest.

a If I speak, the FA will punish me as they always do so I think it’s better for you to do it,a said Mourinho.

a Ita s so clear so ita s difficult to accept. Even winning the game, I have to ask myself why? But the most important things is that we won.”

Costa, was involved in tussles with Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, Martin Skrtel and Emere Can. When inquired about this Mourinho, blatantly replied,”No. Speak about Costa and the penalty that he had and was not given.

“Let Costa play his football.”

Although, Mourinho, took a jibe at Tv pundits and claimed that there is still an ongoing campaign against Chelsea.

“What you call stamps and Sky calls crimes, I have to say (are) absolutely accidental. He goes to the ball, he chases the ball, as the opponent is on the floor, they have a contact, he puts his foot there when he’s looking to the ball. Great campaign. We know how much that pundit loves Chelsea and particularly loves me.”

Despite all this, Mourinho applauded Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and asserted that Liverpool are a very good team.

“I think in the second-half today we were better than them and also in extra-time but I want to be honest with them and be fair with them.

“They were there. They are a very good team. It was great work by Brendan changing the shape and the model of play because the way they started the season was not going in the right direction.

“He was intelligent enough to create a new team. They are a very difficult opponent so I am even happier as we beat a very good team over two legs”

Moreover, Chelsea advance into the finals of Capital One Cup and are still in for a historic treble. A feat, which Mourinho, would love to accomplish with Chelsea.

The group is happy. The group deserves a lot and the supporters were absolutely fantastic.

“The final at Wembley always means a lot. It doesna t matter. FA Cup or League Cup, Wembley is Wembley.

“Wembley is history and the fans love to go and they pushed us for that. They were fantastic.” Mourinho concluded.
