Borussia Dortmund striker Marco Reus will stay at Signal Iduna Park for another year after his representatives claimed that he has turned down interest from top European clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC.

The German international has been linked with a move away from Germany this summer, but according to his representatives, the star has no intention of leaving Borussia Dortmund. The die Schwarzgelben failed to qualify for the Champions League, courtesy of a 7th placed finish in the Bundesliga last season. Due to this, several European clubs were in the look-out for the striker, with the belief that he could be lured away from Dortmund.

He is flattered by the interest of many European teams – Reus’ Agency Sport Total

Sport Total, the agency representing Reus, insist that the 26-year-old is happy at Dortmund. They further add that while the German is flattered by European interest, he has decided to stay put.

In a statement released to Tuttojuve.com, the agency said:

“We read the rumours that are circulating about an alleged transfer for Marco.”

“We can say with certainty that the player is having a wonderful time at Dortmund. He is flattered by the interest of many European teams, but he’s recently decided to stay in Dortmund.”

Thomas Tuchel would like to keep hold of Marco Reus

Dortmund’s newly appointed manager Thomas Tuchel will be looking to get the team back in the Champions League next season and would be hoping to hold on to his star players, including Marco Reus, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mats Hummels. Tuchel was appointed as the manager following the departure of Jurgen Klopp who left the club after 7 years of distinguished service at the Signal Iduna Park. Klopp left after the expiration of his contract earlier this summer as the German felt that it was time for a new challenge in his life and career.

Reus had extended his contract with Dortmund in Ferbruary and is considered as one of the best forwards in the world. The former Borussia Monchengladbach winger was plagued with injuries last term and could not help his team qualify for Champions League after a stuttering start to the campaign. His strike partner, Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has also been linked with a move away from Germany, however the speedster has insisted that he wants to stay with the club. It is believed that an enormous bid would be required to sign either of the two superstars.
