Manuel Pellegrini has once again brushed aside rumours linking Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City.
Last seasona s runners up Manchester City, who travel to Merseyside this weekend to face an in form Everton side, have been constantly linked to the Belgian International throughout the summer. Reports emerging from the UK indicate that a deal between German club VfL Wolfsburg and Manchester City for De Bruyne is imminent.
a Dona t talk about rumoursa
However, Pellegrini remained at his dismissive best as he refused to get carried away by these reports.
.
a I don’t talk about rumours. I have to talk about so many players, it is impossible. When things are finished, then I can talk about thema , he said.
a The window closes on 1 September. Before that, nobody knows what happens.
a All the teams have the same options to bring in players or not to bring in players”.
Kevin De Bruyne, who equalled the Bundesliga record for the most assists in a single campaign last season, will add further creativity to Manchester Citya s midfield that already comprises of Silva, Sterling and Yaya Toure.
a Otamendi was the best optiona
The Chilean went on to hail Manchester Citya s new Argentine centre-back Nicolas Otamendi, who was signed from Valencia on Thursday for a fee of A?32m.
a We needed a centre back, we analysed different options and we decided that Nicolas Otamendi was the best option so here he is. I think he will be a very important player for our team.
a He played well at Porto with Mangala and last season in Valencia he had a very good season so he is improving every year.
a We now have another centre back, together with Mangala, Kompany and Jason Denayer also. For this season with the amount of games we have to play then it is important to have another centre back. Ita s important to have competition within the squad.
a With the way we are playing at this moment it is impossible to move Kompany and Mangala from their best positions. We are in a good moment, we havena t conceded a goal in the last two games so we will continue playing in the same way.a
It will be interesting to see when Pellegrini decides to give Otamendi his first start for City. The Argentine is expected to pair with club captain Vincent Kompany at the heart of the City defence, sooner than later, with Mangala giving way.
