Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has been called up by England for the first time ahead of Tuesday’s game against France.

The 22-year-old will join up with the squad on Sunday after two players were forced out through injury.

Lingard’s United team-mate Michael Carrick was carried off in the last minute of England’s 2-0 defeat to Spain on Friday and will not be available for England’s final game of the year.

Meanwhile, Jamie Vardy, who sat out the game in Alicante with a knock sustained in Leicester’s Premier League match with Watford last weekend, will also be missing.

England returned from Spain on Saturday and, following the tragic events in Paris on Friday night, it was decided that the meeting with France would go ahead as planned.
