Manchester United will welcome Norwich City to Old Trafford and there’s some good news for the Red Devils as Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling and Ander Herrera, are all fit to play the match.
The Red Devils have had a plague of injuries recently leaving a thin squad for the manager to choose from. Several key players like Wayne Rooney, Morgan Schneiderlin, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw have been hit by injuries and it forced Manchester United to field some very inexperienced youngsters in big game situations.
They will receive a boost before their match against Norwich City with the return of forward Wayne Rooney, Defender Chris Smalling and Midfielder Ander Herrera. They have all trained the entire week before the game and will be fit to play.
Chris Smalling’s absence has been missed in particular, since it looks like he was the one who was keeping Manchester United’s defence so tight and the back 4 have looked very vulnerable and easy to breach in his absence. He will return to his center back position and could be paired with Phil Jones or Daley Blind.
.
Herrera’s last piece of action came when he provided a lovely assist for Memphis Depay in their match against Watford back in November. The Spaniard has long been considered one of the best midfielders in the squad, but fell out of favor with Louis Van Gaal and will now look to make a strong case for regular first team selection.
Captain Wayne Rooney, however, is quite the opposite. He is going through one of the worst runs of form in his career, but continues to command a first team place because of his reputation and the faith that the manager has in him. This will be his 500th appearance for Manchester United, should he start, and it remains to be seen whether he makes it a memorable one.
