Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is unaware of Angel Di Mariaa s whereabouts, whereas PSG manager Laurent Blanc claims that negotiations are close to being completed.
After spending four seasons with Real Madrid, Angel Di Maria was signed by Manchester United in one of the biggest transfer moves last summer. While he made a good start to his life in the Premier League, his performances faded away in the second half of the season.
The Argentine internationala s future at the club has come under a lot of speculations in the last few weeks. PSG have set their eyes on the 27-year-old and the former Real Madrid star is said to be keen to leave Old Trafford as he remains unsettled at Manchester. This situation has forced United into a predicament as they also had to focus on the transfer battle with Real Madrid for the future of David de Gea. Losing two keys players will be a big blow, and will force Louis van Gaal to once again look for replacements in the transfer market.
Interestingly, despite being in the squad that traveled for the US tour, Angel Di Maria didna t fly with his teammates.
“I don’t know where he is”
United ended their preseason tour earlier today, with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of PSG. After the match Louis van Gaal was asked about the whereabouts of Di Maria, and according to Sky Sports the Manchester United manager said: . “I don’t know where he is.
“You can ask it every week, but I don’t answer that question. Maybe you know? I don’t know.
“At Manchester United, we will announce something when it is already done and not when it is not done because it is a process and I have said it many, many times. We have to wait and see.”
PSG manager Laurent Blanc was more direct with his answer. The Frenchman said that a deal involving two big clubs will always take time, but believes that this move will soon reach its conclusion.
“Manchester United and PSG are two big clubs and negotiations can be difficult, but we are close to the end.a a Blanc was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
Set to lose two key players in the same window
Angel Di Maria is clearly unwilling to extend his stay at Old Trafford. His decision to miss the US tour is unprofessional and it seems like his relationship with Louis van Gaal is irreparable at the moment. Having invested so much on the Argentine last season, United will try and squeeze out as much as possible from PSG. According to Mirror, the valuation of the final deal will be close to A?46 million.
United have already been linked with Barcelona forward Pedro, but he is unlikely to be the direct replacement for Di Maria. The English club may sign at least one more marquee player before this window closes, considering the fact that they are set to lose two key players in the next few weeks.
