Manchester United Line Up A?33m Bid For Chelsea, Arsenal Target Luiz Gustavo

Manchester United are lining up a A?33m bid for Wolfsburg’s Brazilian defensive Midfielder Luiz Gustavo amidst interest from Arsenal FC and Chelsea FC as per reports.

Manchester United are keen to find a long term replacement for their English central midfielder Michael Carrick and see the Wolfsburg man as an ideal replacement.

Gustavo, however, is a key player for the Wolves who finished second in the league and won the German Cup.

For any deal to materialize, Manchester United will have to trigger the A?33m release clause of the midfielder as reported earlier by Di Marzio.

However, Manchester United will have to fight off interest from Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC who have both been tracking the Wolfsburg man from the summer transfer window of 2014.

Manchester United are already locked in a battle for another Brazil International Joao Miranda with Chelsea FC and for Petr Cech with Arsenal FC.

With United announcing record profits of 159 million Euros, and the new sponsorship deals kicking in, funds are there for the English giants to sign top players and links to various players have cropped, as a result.

When compared to the Premier League’s most in form defensive midfielder in Chelsea FC’s Nemanja Matic and Manchester United’s Michael Carrick, it is easy to see why the Wolfsburg man is so sought after.

He is known to be good on the ball and his passing accuracy of 88% second to Carrick, 0.65 chances created per 90 minutes just short of Matic’s 0.69 reflects it. 3.32 interceptions per 90 minutes is the best among the trio.

Gustavo also has a far superior tackles won per 90 minute to Carrick indicating his physical prowess to thrive in the Premier League.

.

Not far off from Matic in most other defensive attributes, Gustavo will be a perfect foil for the attacking talent at Louis Van Gaal’s disposal should they be able to agree terms with him and Wolfsburg.
