Speaking ahead of Manchester Uniteda s clash against Crystal Palace, manager Louis van Gaal revealed that his team will be without the services of Antonio Valencia, Memphis Depay and James Wilson along with Luke Shaw who continues to recuperate from the long-term injury suffered against PSV in the Champions League.
Manchester United crashed out of the Capital One Cup in midweek as Middlesbrough beat Louis van Gaala s men on penalties at Old Trafford. Both James Wilson and Memphis Depay started the fixture for the Red Devils, but failed to complete the match as they limped out with injuries.
Low on confidence as United suffer more injuries
.
As reported by the club website, Van Gaal confirmed that Memphis Depay, James Wilson and Antonio Valencia werena t available to travel to London to face Crystal Palace.
“Willo was injured but also Memphis Depay was injured,” said the Dutchman. It was a very bad game afterwards because we lost on penalties and also we lost two players. We have to wait and see [how long they are unavailable for] because it was only two days ago.”
While no word is out on the extent of their injuries, Valencia remains sidelined after picking up a knock in the goalless Manchester derby. However, these injuries are unlikely to affect the starting eleven as Matteo Darmian is expected to replace Valencia in the back four.
With Ashley Young back in contention for a starting spot, it will be interesting to see if Louis van Gaal selects the Englishman to play on the left flank, possibly deploying Wayne Rooney in a No 10 role in order to make space for French youngster Anthony Martial at the head of the Red Devils’ attack.
