Wayne Rooney is available for selection for the ultimate game of the season while David de Gea still remains doubtful.
Manchester United travel to face Hull City on Sunday in the ultimate game of the season. The Red Devils have sealed a fourth-place finish and Sundaya s result will hardly make any difference to Van Gaala s side. For the last game of the season, the Dutchman might let loose and use some of the players who have seen rather few minutes on the pitch recently.
The good news coming in for Van Gaal is that captain Wayne Rooney is back from the injury he suffered in the win against Crystal Palace. It is highly likely that the Englishman will start the game. On the other hand, Robin van Persie and Falcao might be making their last appearance on Sunday for the Red Devils. Both might come on as substitutes.
Star keeper David de Gea is tipped to exit the club this summer and might have played his last game against Arsenal in which he came off after sustaining a hamstring injury towards the end of the game. He remains a doubt against Hull City and Victor Valdes might make his first start for United on Sunday.
When asked about De Gea and Rooney Van Gaal said: a That I dona t know yet.
“He has trained today but only with our goalkeeper trainer. He still has a little problem so I want to wait a day longer because I want him to play against Hull City. Rooney is available. He is the captain so I can say he shall play.”
Speaking about Valdes, who is mostly likely to replace De Gea between the sticks in the season finale, Van Gaal said: “Yes, this is not a problem, but I think De Gea is a better goalkeeper. Ita s also our last match of the season. I think you have to put out your strongest team because ita s very important for Hull.”
Probable Starting Line-Up: Valdes; Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Rojo; Herrera, Blind; Mata, Fellaini, Young; Rooney
