Bayern Munich CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has insisted that the club would be “out of our minds” to sell invaluable Manchester United target Thomas Muller.
Manchester United are looking to bolster their attack with the German striker, as they currently only have Wayne Rooney as the club’s only recognized senior striker, following the sale of Robin van Persie, and the exit of Radamel Falcao. Thomas Muller is also believed to be interested in a move to Old Trafford, following in the shoes of former team-mate and new Red Devils signing Bastian Schweinsteiger.
There are some players who just dona t have any price tag – Rummenigge on Muller
Louis Van Gaal sparked wide-spread rumors that Manchester United had bid a 100 million for the 25-year-old, after commenting in a press conference, that they were in the process of signing a ‘surprise striker’. However, he later went on to deny that he intended it to be a striker.
Speaking in a recent interview, the Bayern CEO, said:
a There are some players who just dona t have any price tag.
a We would be out of our minds to sell MA?ller.a
.
The 25-year-old doesn’t enjoy the healthiest of relationships with the Bavarians manager Pep Guardiola, with reports of a training ground bust-up between the duo having surfaced last month. He is also unhappy after being dropped on some occasions last season, while being aware that the club are unwilling to sell him. The Red Devils have reportedly offered to double the salary of the World Cup winner, offering him a whooping A?265,000 per-week.
However, Muller himself speaking in an interview yesterday, stressed on the importance of home-grown talent at the German club. He said:
“Ultimately it’s the quality of the player that’s decisive but, nevertheless, I think it’s important for the club, for its identity and the fans that a hard core of German and domestic players is there, so the identity of the club doesn’t get lost. We have to keep an eye on it.”
Is Pedro the ‘surprise’ signing Van Gaal had hinted about?
Manchester United have already signed four top players in Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian so far this summer, but are also said to be looking to bring in at-least two more players, before the transfer window ends. The two position in which the Old Trafford club are reportedly looking to strengthen are defense and attack.
While, a deal to sign Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has been effectively ruled out, United are apparently close to signing FC Barcelona forward Pedro, after seemingly been told that Bayern Munich‘s Thomas Muller will not be sold at any price. Pedro is a very versatile attacker who can play anywhere across the front three, after falling down the pecking order at FC Barcelona due to the arrivals of Luis Suarez and Arda Turan, the Spanish forward now wants to leave for a new challenge. If Manchester United indeed succeed in signing the 27-year-old, chances are they will be Chelsea FC’s main rivals for the Premier League title next season.
