Inter Milan’s goalkeeper Samir Handanovic’s agent has claimed that his client is all set to sign a fresh contract extension with the Italian side in this summer, according to media reports . . Premier League giants Manchester United were closely linked with the Slovenian international a month back as their star custodian David De Gea was speculated to make a move out of Old Trafford this summer for Real Madrid.
Handanovic’s agent Federico Pastorello recently spoke to the media and said: “These are only rumours and media speculation.
“Nothing is true with regard to the Red Devils, I’ve never talked to them. I can rule out then, Samir going to Old Trafford though of course the transfer market is unpredictable.
“Obviously interest from other clubs gives us pleasure, but Samir wants to win with Inter. Negotiations continue, and the final OK is close.
“Maybe a 90 percent chance [of signing a new contract] is a little high, but the chances are very high.
“Of course, everyone wants to play in the Champions League, that’s normal. Samir wants to achieve that goal with Inter though, even if the last few seasons have not been particularly happy.
“If Samir reaches the agreement, he could end his career at Inter.”
Samir Handanovic has been an integral part of the Inter Milan side since 2012. In this season, the Slovenian custodian has kept 11 clean sheets in 37 Serie A appearances and conceded 47 goals.
Manchester United considered Handanovic as a possible replacement of David de Gea alongside several other top custodians. Out of favour Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Cech and Tottenham Hotspur’s French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris were also considered as possible replacements.
While Handanovic is yet to commit his future to Inter, Manchester United would hope to rope in the goalkeeper. His stats for this season had been extremely impressive.
The above image gives an idea about the performances of David de Gea and Samir Handanovic. The Inter goalkeeper was almost at par with the Spaniard in terms of stats. He could have a very good replacement for De Gea who is planning to join the Los Blancos.
