Manchester United have decided to strengthen their leaky defence in the winter transfer window and Ron Vlaar of Aston Villa and Seamus Coleman of Everton are on the radar of Red Devils.
Manchester United have recovered well from their shaky start to the season as they have won six out of their last eight games but manager Louis van Gaal is not at all satisfied with the quality of his defenders.
The Dutchman has already asked the management of Manchester United to splash some cash on new defensive enforcements in January and Aston Vill captain Ron Vlaar and Seamus Coleman of Everton are attracting the interest of the manager.
Manchester United are tracking Ron Vlaar for quite a while now and Louis van Gaal is convinced that a player, who played under him for Holland in Brazil, would prove a good value addition to the club.
Seamus Coleman, 26, is also attracting the interest of Manchester United as Louis van Gaal has little faith in Rafael da Silva.
Meanwhile, reports coming from England have also confirmed the desire of Manchester United to land both the players in winter transfer window. The Guardian has claimed today that Ron Vlaar is under consideration by Louis van Gaal as the Manchester United manager seeks to strengthen his defensive options, though there is yet to be any contact with Aston Villa regarding the player. And Manchester United also has plans to sign Seamus Coleman in the January window in a deal that would be worth at least A?20m to Everton.
Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Jonny Evans, four frontline defenders of Manchester United, have all been ruled out due to injuries at various times this season and this has forced Louis van Gaal to alter his plan on a regular basis. The Dutchman wants to avoid this scenario in the second half of the season and has asked the management of Manchester United to sign at least two new defenders.
Ron Vlaar has only six months left to his contract at Aston Villa and he is in no mood to extend the same. Manchester United believe that a cut-price deal is possible for the Ducth international in January as Aston Villa would not want to lose him for free in June.
Meanwhile, another player who is attracting the interest of Manchester United is Everton right-back Seamus Coleman.
Seamus Coleman has become an integral part of Everton side this season and Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal feels that he is the right guy to replace inconsistent Rafael da Silva. Manchester United believe that an offer in the region of 20 million euros would be enough to lure Everton to sale Seamus Coleman in January.
