Manchester United On Verge Of Signing Matteo Darmian From Torino

Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Italian full-back Matteo Darmian from Serie A side Torino, after the player agreed to a four year contract, in a deal believed to be around A?12.9 million according to various reports.

English Premier League giants Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal for Torino right-back Matteo Darmian, and expect to wrap up the deal in time for the Italian international to leave with the squad for United States on Monday for their pre-season tour.

A reported fee of A?12.9 million has been agreed between the two club’s for the services of the 25-year-old, with the fee potentially rising to A?14.4 million, based on add-ons. The negotiations are believed to be in closing stage, with only a couple of details left to be agreed upon, including the compensation to be paid to AC Milan, who are due close to five percent of Darmian’s transfer fees. Darmian was part of AC Milan’s youth setup and spent 9 years with the club in between 2001 and 2010.

The Italian right-back will be Louis Van Gaal’s second summer signing after the A?31 million capture of winger Memphis Depay from PSV, last month. Depay is scheduled to be presented as a Manchester United player on Friday, and if the deal for Darmian is completed in-time, it could see the two presented together.

United have Rafael da Silva and Antonio Valencia who play at right back, but both have struggled to make the starting place their own after putting in unconvincing displays last term. Darmian has been a mainstay in the Torino line-up for a couple of years now, and started all the games for Italy at the World Cup last year, he would bring some much needed consistency and solidarity at the right back position for the Red Devils.

.

Manchester United are also looking to sign Southampton’s French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, with a bid in the region of A?20 million already rejected by the Saints, who value the midfielder at close to A?30 million. The Red Devils earlier had a bid turned down by Real Madrid for the services of experienced defender Sergio Ramos, and if reports are to be believed, the Spaniard is set to extend his stay in the capital, after the Bernabeu outfit agreed to his wage demands.
