According to reports, Manchester United are ready to force David De Gea to see out his contract at Old Trafford if Real Madrid do not meet his asking price.

With David De Gea refusing to extend his contract at Manchester United, it seems that the Spaniard has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid this summer. With only a year left on his contract, it is perceived that Manchester United do not have much bargaining power in the deal. However, according to reports, Ed Woodward and co are ready to force De Gea to play out his contract and then eventually let him leave on a free transfer rather than allow Real Madrid to procure his services for cheap this summer.

According to reports, nothing less than a world record transfer fee will be enough to convince Manchester United to sell David De Gea. This record is currently being held by Juventus who bought Gianluigi Buffon from Parma in 2001 for A?32.6 million.

David De Gea is believed to have single-handedly rescued Manchester Uniteda s flagging season under Louis Van Gaal and is also credited with earning his team a spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season. Having identified him as a valuable asset, Manchester United are reportedly considering the benefits of keeping him at the club for a year longer and consequently letting him leave the club for free.

It was reported earlier that David De Geaa s abode in Manchester had been put up for sale suggesting that the goal-keeper was keen on wrapping up a deal with Real Madrid before the commencement of the pre-season tour.

Marca also reported that Real Madrid have shifted focus to Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno as a back-up option in case a deal for David De Gea falls through this summer. Madrid are reportedly having second thoughts regarding paying such a big sum for David De Gea when they can avail his services for free next season.
