As Manchester United and Real Madrid continue to blame each other for failing to secure David De Geaa s transfer from Old Trafford, Florentino Perez has hit out at his English counterpart, claiming that Manchester Uniteda s lack of experience was responsible for the failed David De Gea deal.

Real Madrid earlier released a statement blaming Manchester United for failing to send the required documents in time with Ed Woodward and co reciprocating the gesture shortly afterwards.

I dona t think there was any mischief on the part of Manchester United

As reported by AS, Florentino Perez refused to allege that Manchester United deliberately stalled the paperwork to complete the transfer but at the same time, mused as to why it took the club 8 hours to return the contracts.

a Those contract stated what was to be paid for De Gea and what United had to pay for Keylor. They took eight hours to send them back. I dona t think there was any mischief on the part of Manchester United, I imagine that they had a lot of work to get through and needed to resolve other matters first.

a I dona t want to lay blame at anyonea s door but we cannot understand why they would need eight hours or why they wanted negotiations to take place in the 12 hours before the markets closed.a

While Real Madrid and Manchester United contunie to shift the blame on each other, questions have been asked as to why Florentino Perez waited till the last day to secure David De Geaa s move to Santiago Bernabeu.

The player had made a big effort and we couldna t leave him stranded

The President revealed that Manchester United were categorical in their refusal to sell De Gea and hence negotiations were off the table. Perez also claimed that De Gea had made a a big efforta to secure a move to Old Trafford and hence they couldna t leave the Spaniard stranded in Manchester.

.

a We dona t talk to anyone who doesna t want to talk to us. If they tell us that there are no possibilities of a deala Manchester told us that De Gea was not for sale. We are very respectful with all clubs.

a The player had made a big effort and we couldna t leave him stranded. At 1:30pm, Manchester United already had all of the contracts. All that remained was agreeing economic terms.a

Speaking about how things went wrong during the closing hours of the transfer window, Perez reiterated that he did not believe that Manchester United had a ulterior motivesa but blamed their lack of experience with regards to De Geaa s failed transfer move.

a I dona t think there were any ulterior motives. But United lack experience in these matters. The same thing happened to us last year with [FA?bio] CoentrA?o and to Athletic Club with Ander Herrera.

a That was exactly the same as with De Gea. The same, the same day and everything happened just as it did with De Gea. They have a new team and perhaps they lack experience.a

Perez claims that he was shocked to find out that Manchester United wanted to negotiate with just 12 hours left in the transfer window. With the Real Madrid President coming out in public with a direct accusation, it will be interesting to see if Manchester United return their Spanish counterpart the same favour.
