Manchester United Have Not Sacked Louis van Gaal

Contrary to what you may see on Twitter, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has not been sacked yet.

A number of tweets broke out on Tuesday night, claiming that the Dutchman has indeed been sacked by Manchester United, and that Jose Mourinho was being installed in the hotseat at Old Trafford, after Van Gaal supposedly had a meeting with club vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The rumours seemed to have been fueled by the fact that Van Gaal had left the stadium through the back door, managing to avoid the large number of reporters waiting with their questions. Interestingly, former manager David Moyes had also left through the same gate after being sacked, and this is something that seemed to have given the stories even more conviction.

Here are some tweets that claimed Van Gaal’s sacking. Chief among them is former Manchester City manager Trevor Sinclair.

However, Manchester Evening News confirmed that Van Gaal was not being sacked, and that the meeting was in fact held to discuss some commercial matters, and not about the Manchester United manager’s future at the club.

Tensed situation for Van Gaal

The Dutchman has had a torrid season so far, managing only six wins in the last 15 matches in all competitions. This also includes the club crashing out of the Champions League in the group stages, something that can be viewed as a bit of a blasphemy.

The fans also seemed to have now turned on their manager of late, calling out for the club to sack him, and bring Jose Mourinho to the Old Trafford dugout.
