Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says that he is less than pleased with the loan move of Belgian youngster Adnan Januzaj, who has not gotten much of a chance with Bundesliga title contenders, Borussia Dortmund.
.
The Belgian youngster had moved to Borussia Dortmund hoping to get more game time, but that has hardly been the case at the Bundesliga side. The only two starts that Januzaj has gotten at Dortmund have been in the Europa League, while he has made only six appearances in the Bundesliga — all of them from the bench.
a At a club like Borussia Dortmund, all the players are also of a certain level,a Van Gaal was quoted assaying in the Daily Mirror. a I said in advance thata s a big risk, because you have to compete with other players of a higher level and thata s not so easy.”
Van Gaal wanted Januzaj to stay in the Premier League, ‘but he chose Borussia Dortmund’
Although he was not getting many chances at Manchester United, Van Gaal says that he wanted Januzaj to stay in the Premier League and get more playing time under his belt. A move to a Premier League club where the competition would have been less would perhaps have suited the Belgian more.
a Ita s the same as at Manchester United. He has to compete with higher-level players. I want him to play all the matches, and thata s why I wanted to play him in the Premier League, but he chose Borussia Dortmund,” said Van Gaal.
However, the Dutchman is hopeful that with the amount of talent that Januzaj has, he would be able to improve and play at a higher level.
a I am certain he has the talent to play, but he has to learn a lot of things,” he continued. a Talent is important, but so is the character to develop your talent. And he can learn that.a
