Manchester City’s driving force Yaya Toure has backed fellow countryman Wilfried Bony to shine at Manchester City. The imposing Ivorian has already hailed Bony as a “major” player and believes that Bony will deliver for Manchester City.
“Manchester City is a club that still needs major players like Aguero and Bony,” said Toure.
“If you have the ambition to be at the top of the Premier League, you need to recruit great players and Bony is one of today’s great players.”
Wilfried Bony, is on the verge of a Manchester City move and perhaps it would be right to say that the deal could be made official, anytime now. The Swansea striker has been in inspired form this campaign and has already entered double figures in his goal scoring tally. Although, Bony’s move to Manchester City has been termed as another ‘Scott Sinclair move’, a Swansea player who joined Manchester City and failed to bag appearances, Yaya Toure believes that Bony, has could play a pivotal role in the Premier League race. Toure, asserted the importance of signing a top player like Bony.
“If you want to be at the top of the Premier League you need to sign the top players and Bony is one of them at the moment.”
Following a 1-1 draw against Everton, Manchester City currently lie on the second spot and are two points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
“It will be tough to win the title again as Chelsea are in a good moment. It is not finished and we need to compete well and do the business and again.” added Toure.
A major boost for Manchester City would be the return of their prolific striker Sergio Aguero. Ageruo, has been Manchester City’s saving grace and made a substitute appearance for Manchester City against Everton.
Meanwhile, with both, Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony, partaking in the Africa Cup Of Nations, Manchester City could be handed several problems in the midfield region, due to the absence of Yaya Toure. The pivot of Fernando and Fernandinho looked timid against Everton and as a result Manchester City were being easily over-run in the midfield region.
The Citizens, face back to back baptisms of fire as they take on Arsenal this weekend and ram head against fellow contenders and league leaders, Chelsea, on 31st January 2015, after the International break.
