Manchester City’s dependable midfielder James Milner believes that the Sky Blues wont let Chelsea carve open a hefty again lead, again. Instead, Milner understands that Manchester City has it’s own plans to rue Chelsea’s premier league party by creating a lead of their own, before their showdown with Chelsea on 31st January. Both Chelsea and Manchester City and currently tied on 46 points, with the former sitting first courtesy of alphabetical order. But Milner believes that is soon bound to change as Manchester City have the needful to put men to work and carve open a hefty lead.
a Hopefully wea ll be looking to open up a little gap of our own,a Milner said. a You look at this run [in January] and people think it is tougher than the games we had over Christmas but there are form teams and out of form teams. Every game is difficult. Youa ve got teams at the bottom who look and think, a wea re going to win that gamea .
a We are on a good run, 12 unbeaten. That 10 wins in a row eluded us but it is a nice run to be on. It is big momentum to have to go into that game still on that run with confidence flying. We are going to get one or two bodies back in January as well, hopefully. That is definitely going to help.
A major problem for Manchester City come AFCON would be the exclusion of midfield general, Yaya Toure. After suffering a slump in form, Yaya Toure has re-surged quiet miraculously and is once again the driving force behind Manchester City. Milner agrees that his absence could prove hefty, if not filled by other talented players like Lampard.
a It is great to have Lamps here as well,a Milner said. a He is a big player. Yaya is a big miss for us because of what he has done at the club but we have to deal with that and carry on this run,a he said.
“Although we are losing Yaya [Tour , to the Africa Cup of Nations], the likes of Edin [Dzeko] and Sergio [AgA?ero] are not too bad players to have coming back.a
Meanwhile, James Milner asserted the challenge of teams in the second half of the Premier League.
a Look at Burnley coming here [drawing 2-2] and how well they played. Sometimes it is easier to play against teams who are mid-table and pushing for Europe and are moving it around a lot more. Who knows what an easy game is? It is the Premier League. We have seen on Sunday as well a middle-of-the-table, pushing for play-offs Championship team and we have won in the last minute.” he concluded.
