Manchester City Team News: Manuel Pellegrini May Not Tinker With Lineup Against Hull City

Manuel Pellegrini might have a big squad at his disposal, but the Chilean will most likely not have the luxury of tinkering much with the starting XI as a number of his players have been ruled out due to injuries.

The Manchester Citys boss is all set to field more-or-less a similar side to the one that played in the weekend against Southampton, according to Manchester Evening News.

.

a Maybe we are going to make some changes, [but] not so many because we have Zabaleta, Kompany, Mangala, Nasri a all of the are out of this game. So we will see,” Pellegrini was quoted saying after the Southampton game, which City won 3-1. “Especially in defence, we cannot make so many changes. We will see in the other positions which is the best team to start.

a We will see [about resting players]. We will see during Sunday and during Monday with the medical staff the way the players recover.

Manchester City had been on a bit of a dry ahead of the weekend’s match against Southampton, going on a three-match winless run. While the 0-0 draw against bottom club seemed like a bit of a blib in an otherwise perfect season, the 4-1 loss to Liverpool at home looked downright embarrassing. Following that up with a 1-0 loss at Juventus in Europe had really set the alarmbells ringing, but City seems to have pulled things back to normal with the win against Southampton.

Aguero fitness in doubts

Manchester City’s star marksman Sergio Aguero hobbled off against Southampton and might be rested by Pellegrini in the League Cup quarterfinal against Hull City. This provides Wilfried Bony with the perfect opportunity to get back to full match fitness after coming back from his own injury. Pellegrini could also give 19-year-old striker Kelechi Iheanacho a run out on the field.
