Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri takes to Instagram to reveal he will be out for three months

The former Arsenal FC midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in Manchester City’s 5-1 win over Bournemouth, but the injury is evidently worse than first feared, ruling him out for 3 months

Samir Nasri has found game time hard to come by with Manchester City signing Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling in the summer, but this latest setback means the Frenchman won’t be able to compete for a place in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting XI until next year.

The former Arsenal FC attacking midfielder posted a photo of himself with crutches on Instagram, revealing that he is expected to be out for around three months — arguably the most crucial of the season.

Nasri provides injury update via Instagram

Very much in keeping with the times, Samir Nasri took it upon himself to reveal the full extent of his injury, doing so via Instagram. The 28-year-old accompanied his latest photo with the message: “What doesn’t kill you make you stronger. I will be back better than ever see you in 3 months.”

Nasri has only made 8 appearances for the Citizens this season, scoring just one goal which came in the 2-0 win at Goodison Park. Of those 8 appearances, only two of them have been starts. Pellegrini has largely preferred using the likes of Sterling and De Bruyne along with Spaniard David Silva, with JesA?s Navas used on the right wing from time to time to provide width.

Manchester City will not miss Nasri

He might have been an important player for the club in the past, but Manchester City now boast arguably the best attack in the Premier League — even without Nasri. The likes of Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne have been added over the summer to the Citizens’ already impressive arsenal, while David Silva is moving ever closer to a return from injury.

Meanwhile, Pellegrini also has the option of using JesA?s Navas on the right, or Fernando as an additional defensive midfielder, allowing Yaya Tour to effectively play in the Number 10 role. The injury will be more keenly felt if more players get injured however, particularly during the festive period, when games will come thick and fast.
