Manchester City Eye Arsenal Midfielder After Sterling Bid Gets Rejected

Premier League runner-up Manchester City have have shown interest in signing Arsenal‘s English midfielder Jack Wilshere. The Citizens are reportedly ready to place an initial bid of A?30m for the Englishman.

Manchester City had initially targeted Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling and offered to pay A?40m for the English attacker, but as per reports the Reds have turned down the offer. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are now concentrating on roping in Jack Wilshere from Arsenal, according to media reports in England.

City are looking forward to rebuilding their squad after they failed to defend the Premier League title last season. A few days back the club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak had confirmed that the club is planning to make big spending in this summer for improved results in the coming season. Apart from the rebuilding aspect, the club also needs to buy English players in order to fulfill the ‘home grown’ quota of each club.

Jack Wilshere had missed the early stages of last season due to injury. He came back to the squad only in the second half and played just 14 Premier League matches for the Gunners. He scored two goals and provided one assist. Wilshere scored two stunning goals for the national team in their 3-2 win over Slovenia. He has recovered properly from his injury and slowly regaining his old form.

The English midfielder is an extremely player who can play both the roles of a deep lying central midfielder as well as a goal scorer. Wilshere can prove to be an excellent but for Manuel Pellegrini. Alongside Yaya Toure, the midfielder is capable of bringing great success to the Manchester club.

From Arsenal’s point of view, Jack Wilshere is a priced possession and it is highly unlikely that Arsene Wenger will actually sell him this summer. A month when Wilshere was linked with the Cityzens for the first time, Wenger had clearly mentioned that they will not sell their best players anymore.

As Wenger clarified that none of their best players would be sold, we feel that it will not be possible for Manchester City to lure the services of Jack Wilshere.
