Wilfried Bony’s agent has confirmed that a move to Manchester City is very much on the cards and could be completed within the next few days. Bony, was highly linked to Manchester City in the last few weeks. Injuries to Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, meant that Manchester City would have to sign a striker, as lack of strikers could take a toll on their Premier League campaign. Manchester City have Stevan Jovetic, as the only recognised striker within their squad. Although, James Milner can also act as a makeshift false nine, with which Manchester City played a couple of games, it does not give stability to the City system. Thus, a move for inform Wilfried Bony, to add depth to their attacking ranks, made sense from Manchester City’s point of view. The Swansea man, was the top scorer in Premier League for 2014 calender year with 20 goals. The imposing Ivorian will join his fellow countryman Yaya Toure, if he comes to Manchester City. Something which his agent has said to be completed in ‘few’ days.
“We are in talks and we hope it will happen. There are rumours about other teams, but City are the only ones interested. There are a few minor hold-ups over money, but we hope things will be sorted in the next few days.” Bony’s agent Francis Kacou told Sky Sports News.
Manchester City are expected to cough up 30 million pounds for the services of Wilfried Bony. The 25 year old himself played coy when inquired about the supposed link to Manchester City.
“Not yet but negotiations are ongoing. It is good to hear [of City’s interest]. Football is like that. But for now I want to focus on the national team.” said Bony
“When you get the opportunity… sometimes good ones, sometimes not, but I am just taking it step by step. I am focusing on my national team and wait to see the news like you.”
However, the Ivorian dropped a massive hint and said that he would love to play in the Champions League. And that is only possible if Manchester City sign the 25 year old.
“Every player wants to play Champions League, World Cups. It is the wish of every player.”
Wilfried Bony’s move would certainly bolster Manchester City’s attack and give them depth in that department too. Manchester City are currently tied on points with Chelsea and remain second, due to alphabetical order.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men take an away trip to Merseyside, to face a withering Everton. Manchester City, would be hoping to continue with their blistering form and grab all three points.
