FC Barcelona star Luis Suarez acknowledged his surprise about the result against Real Madrid in the Clasico on Saturday, while also warning about complacency.
FC Barcelona hammered four goals past Real Madrid on Saturday to move six points clear over their arch-rivals at the top of La Liga stadings, but the Uruguayan superstar, who score a brace, revealed that he was surprised by the result and hardly expected them to dominate the proceedings like they did. Suarez said after the game (via the Sport) that they didna t expect it to be an easy affair.
a We didna t expect to win 4-0
a We said it would be a tough game, we always knew that, but we did a really thorough job from the first minute until the last.a
Suarez: cluster of coincidences
Luis Suarez seemed to have been in a state of daze, as he suggested that it was a bad day in office for the Madrid players as almost every mistake was punished by FC Barcelona, but was careful enough not to sound too sympathetic as he warned his teammates of complacency.
a It was a cluster of coincidences. Madrid are one of the best teams in the world, but we took advantage of their mistakes.a
a The season is very long and Madrid are a great team.a
The result was truly one-sided, as Real Madrid found it hard to match with Barca who were completely on song despite Lionel Messia s absence in the first half of the El Clasico. Madrid have been struggling with a lot of issues that needs to be sorted out first before they can really go on to challenge Barca this season.
Beniteza s relationship with his players has been a major talking point and if the rumours are true then Perez might well need to take a step to back on which side to back.
