Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has revealed that he decided to stick to the 3-5-2 formation against QPR as he felt it was best suited for his side after observing it carefully at the training ground.
Manchester United have played and won games in the last few months despite being far from their free-flowing best. Fans all over the world have expressed their opinions on how their team should line up tactically on various social media platforms, but in vain. Louis Van Gaal did change the formation to a 4-4-2 in the second half against QPR, but it’s unlikely that he’ll start with it the next time.
The Dutchman said, a Before this match I have already thought about this shape and to play it.
a Then I look to my players in a training session and I look to my game plan and then I choose and thata s dependable, also, from what I see at the training ground.
a I cannot observe the fans because how many fans do Manchester United have? All over the world wea ve got 600 million.
a You cannot take into account 600 million opinions. To look at the players, to communicate with the players, to observe, to analyse and so on. Thata s my job as a manager.
a I have to look at the players and I have to communicate with the players and observe the players.a
Louis Van Gaal has favoured the three at the back system since he took over in the summer but did try a more conventional approach after a winless opening few weeks. He reverted to the three at the back style once again in early December, and although his side have produced the results, they are not good to watch in all honesty.
Radamel Falcao disappointed he couldn’t convert his chances
Colombian striker Radamel Falcao revealed his disappointed after he was thwarted by the QPR defence. Falcao had some good chances but couldn’t convert which only increases the pressure on himself as a permanent deal to United in the coming summer could fall through.
Falcao said, “We were very close to scoring more and I could have had two goals,”
“Sadly, the goalkeeper did very well and the other chances were not that clear. It was 90 very important minutes for me. I need to play and I am very happy that I did.
“Obviously, I really hope to score soon, but the opportunities will come, I am sure of that. But I am fine. I feel really good. I am playing without any sort of fitness problems.”
