Liverpool will face competition from Bayern Munich for Mateo Kovacic’s signature.
Liverpool have made themselves extremely busy this summer and have already signed six players so as to ensure they have their desired squad for the pre-season and can assemble the group together from then itself, the lack of which proved to have such a detrimental effect on last season, one could argue.
The Reds have also been linked with Mateo Kovacic vigorously ever since “silly season” began. These reports remained rumors and speculation but there is no smoke without fire and Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio . confirmed the club was interested in the Croatian, but no bids were made for him.
It seems that Brendan Rodgers and co. will have an even tougher task now as Italian newspaper Tuttosport claimed that the Pep Guardiola wants Kovacic to play for Bayern Munich next summer. The Spaniard is believed to think that Kovacic would be the ideal replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has been tipped for a move away from the Allianz Arena.
Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb recently claimed that Liverpool were told that Kovacic would not be parted with for any lesser than A?21m and the Reds remained indecisive about tabling the amount for the Croatian and were going to continue haggling for the midfielder.
